2009 Charity Steer
Once again the 2009 Royal Easter Show saw the successful auction of the Schute Bell Charity Steer. This year an Angus steer was selected and purchased from Milong Angus Stud in Junee.
This is the 12th year we have auctioned the charity steer at the show. The idea being that Schute Bell would purchase a steer, have it professionally fed and prepared for competition at the Royal Easter Show. After competing the steer would be auctioned with the proceeds from the sale being donated to the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute. We are delighted to be involved in the auction which to date has raised almost $200,000 supporting such a worthy coarse.
Special thanks to all the students of the Murrumburrah High School Farm Club and their teacher Jan Young who over the past four years have taken care of the preparation and diligent care of the steer prior to the day.
Anthony Atkinson from Schute Bell conducted the auction. The winning bid reaching $15,000 by the purchaser, Mr. Paul Ferry from Gundagai.
Mrs. Ann Chang was in attendance at the auction representing the Institute. She was delighted to be a part of the auction. Mr. Robert Ryan, Managing Director and the staff of Schute Bell Badgery Lumby would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Paul Ferry and all those involved in the event.
