Schute Bell Wether Trial
Schute Bell is now the major sponsor for the ANFD national wether trial. With the support and contribution of the owners, teams of wethers from all over the state are run on the Australian National Field Day site for evaluation and comparison.
The objectives of the trial are;
- Demonstrate under equivalent commercial conditions the relative productivity of merino sheep flocks for economically important characteristics, such as fleece weight, fibre diameter, wool value and body weight.
- Provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and information
- To assist participants to assess their progress toward their breeding objectives
All teams are on display at the Australian National Field days in October and at shearing which usually takes place in early May.
